Meaning & Analysis

Hello My Game Is (red) can be seen alongside a variety of other prints produced between 2007 and 2017 which are part of Invader’s Hello My Game Is collection. All the prints in this collection feature the 8-bit visual register of arcade games which has become a characteristic feature of Invader’s artistic style. In January 2017 Invader exhibited a selection of the prints from the Hello My Game Is collection at his solo eponymous exhibition at the Musée en Herbe in Paris.

The alien depicted by Invader in this print is a character from the popular arcade game, Space Invaders, which was created by the Japanese gaming company Taito in 1978. Invader’s artistic style is deeply influenced by gaming and while the artist is best known for his depictions of characters from Space Invaders, the artist has also produced artworks inspired by other games such as Pac-Man.
