H9-5 Honesty is a laminated giclée print on aluminium composite panel by contemporary artist, Damien Hirst. In the print, Hirst renders two beautiful cherry blossom trees against a pale blue backdrop. The pinks of the flowers radiate from the tree, imbuing the print with energy and dynamism, resonating with the beginnings of Spring and the flourishing of the cherry blossom trees. H9-5 Honesty is part of the H9 The Virtues series. In this series, Hirst has produced eight prints, all of which depict magnificent cherry blossom trees in characteristic pinks and blues. Interestingly, Hirst names the prints after the ‘Eight Virtues of Bushidō’ according to Nitobe Inazō -Justice, Courage, Mercy, Politeness, Honesty, Honour, Loyalty, and Control. The inspiration for the series comes from Hirst’s childhood. He recounts how he remembers seeing his mother paint a cherry blossom tree, and how he was always fascinated by the tree that grew outside his bedroom window, comparing it to a clock, as the blossoming of the tree would come at the same time every year. In MyArtBroker Invests, we explore why this print might be a good investment.
