Meaning & Analysis
Tracey Emin’s 2014 etching Kissing You was produced as one of three special prints the artist created for the Royal Academy Editions. This print depicts a couple during sexual intercourse, representing them in an intimate embrace with Emin highlighting the passionate kiss through her dizzying mark making around their heads. Through her simple yet evocative use of line, the pair appear suspended at the centre of the composition. Beneath the print is the title of the work in the bottom left, and Emin’s signature and the edition number of the print to the right.

Tracey Emin, born in 1963, stands as a fearless provocateur in the contemporary art scene. A trailblazer of the Young British Artists (YBA) movement in the late 1980s, the artist has sparked conversation and controversy for decades.
