Spanish-born artist Joan Miró was a pioneering surrealist painter, sculptor and ceramicist. Although often cited as a forgotten figure in Surrealism, Miró was inspired by marrying the subconscious, surreal fantasy with Catalan folk motifs drawn from his heritage.
