Kung Fu, is a signed limited edition screen print executed by the French street artist Invader in 2015 in an edition of 50. Executed in the artist’s signature pixelated style, inspired by video games the artist played in the 70s and 80s, the subject matter varies from the artist’s typical Space invader character works which are tagged onto buildings and walls in urban metropolises.
One of the artist’s more figurative works, Kung Fu depicts a Kung Fu player swinging their leg, set against a backdrop of repeated miniature red space invader characters. Retro and pixelated, the style is immediately identifiable as that of Invader. The pixels constituting the subject’s figure and clothing are inspired by retro video games’ 8-bit graphics.
