Meaning & Analysis

H8-4 Forever is one of four limited edition prints that compose the Fruitful and Forever series. The series was made by Hirst to support Save the Children and the profits from the series were donated to Save the Children’s Italian campaign “Riscriviamo il Futuro.” The campaign was launched to support Italian children from disadvantaged backgrounds who were affected by the school closures during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Each print in the series shows a close-up section of a larger canvas. The prints showcase the spectacular details of the canvases which are often overlooked by the viewer. The Fruitful and Forever series is part of Hirst’s series of Cherry Blossom paintings. In this series, Hirst depicted the beautiful Cherry Blossom trees, drawing on the work of Pierre Bonnard, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh and the Pointillist technique developed by Georges Seurat.
