Magenta And Blue is one in three prints comprising Bridget Riley’s Magenta series, in which the abstract art pioneer combines shapes with curved, swooping lines in magenta and a contrasting blue hue. The result is a vibrant visual effect in which the shapes appear to dance across the page. One of the most influential British artists, Riley continues to push the supposed limits of geometric abstraction in meticulously planned abstract compositions.
Executed in her signature geometric style, whilst exploring pulsating colour combinations, Magenta And Blue is designed to dazzle the viewer. Executed in exclusively two hues, Magenta And Blue explores the relationship between two colours, whereas many of Riley’s other works are three, four or even five hues. This stripped-back comparison results in larger expanses of colour evolving on the two dimensional surface.
This signed screen print was released in 2002 in an edition of 75.
